After Adrian completed his Architecture degree and prior to establishing a successful architectural practice, Adrian worked for large architectural firms for nearly 20-years and was involved with hundreds of millions of dollars worth of Real Estate Development projects. During this time Adrian also became a Licensed Builder and learnt valuable insider ‘trade secrets’ but more importantly he learnt the mindset of successful property developers – the things they didn’t teach at University!
After leaving school Amber was employed in various management roles of 5 star international hotels both in Australia and overseas before she joined Australia’s largest airline. After spending many years living the jet setting life she made a decision to stop working for a wage and building someone else’s business. Instead she decided to follow her passion of property investment, renovation and development and join Adrian as a full-time business partner.
However, it wasn’t until they had been working in their own architectural practice Archizen Holistic Architects for sometime, that they began comparing the long hours they had to work for their wages to the extraordinary profits that their property developer clients were making, leveraging off other people’s money, time, knowledge and skills.
So, they made a decision to work smarter and not harder by emulating the real estate developers. But unlike many property developers, they didn’t want to just sell and make quick profits. Instead they realised that one of the biggest advantages of property development was the ability to acquire a real estate portfolio at wholesale costs rather than paying retail prices.
Adrian and Amber took a holistic approach to their wealth creation. Their goal was to increase their net worth and create their own equity using Real Estate Development to build a sustainable business that would allow them to live off both the rental income and the expected capital growth.
